The Golden State Warriors stunned the NBA world with a Game 1 road win over the No. 1 seed Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2025 Western Conference Semifinals. But just as quickly as they gained momentum, they may have lost their biggest weapon.
Stephen Curry has been ruled out for at least one week with a Grade 1 hamstring strain, the team announced Wednesday. That means he’ll miss Game 2 and very likely Game 3 and Game 4, depending on how his recovery progresses.
Curry injured himself in the second quarter of Game 1 after dropping 13 points in just 13 minutes. He limped to the locker room after appearing to tweak his hamstring on a defensive play and did not return.
“He’s obviously crushed,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said postgame. “But our guys stepped up and got it done.”
🧠 How the Warriors Won Game 1 Without Steph
Draymond Green stepped up big with four 3-pointers in the first half — something that hasn’t happened since peak dynasty days. Buddy Hield also turned in a game-high 24 points and a team-best +22 in the box score.
Golden State held Minnesota to 39.5% shooting and forced them to start 0-for-16 from 3-point range. Anthony Edwards did his best with 22 second-half points, but the Timberwolves offense has now shot just 12-for-76 from deep over their last two games.
